Default 1999 Sportsman 500 - creeps forward at idle

My 1999 Sportsman 500 since new has had very few issues during the 16+ years I have owned it so it has been a fantastic machine!

The problem showed up a number of months ago during hunting season and in essence once you start to ride it and then stop, it wants to continue to creep forward and makes it difficult to shift gears and there is a bit of grind when you do.

Runs fantastic and seem to be no other problems with power to the wheels in 2WD/4WD so the only time you notice it is when you stop and especially if you need to change gears.

I am looking for a starting point on where the problem could be.

Appreciate any help!

Craig

Probably time to replace the fiber and metal washer in the front clutch(in front and rear of the one way bearing),plus check belt alignment and one way bearing itself. If you haven't changed belts in a few years, probably best to do that also. Common problem on ebs clutches as they wear.Item #2 and 18 are the fiber and metal washer.Dirt Cheap Yamaha, Polaris, Suzuki & Kawasaki OEM Parts & Accessories – Cycle Parts Warehouse Look over these guys posts to see what they've done also.2002 500 Sportsman belt alignment - ATVConnection.com ATV Enthusiast Community Here's a video on an ebs clutch, but a little different than yours, but tearing apart is the same.
