nifty little tool but the shaft threads looked fine, ill have a better look tho when i pull it back out(little chilly today)...the nut on the other hand, the threads were completely gone, it was smooth, it could just slide on and off the shaft...what would cuase this other than whoever installed it hit it too hard with an impact and didnt realize?flywheel is still firmly in place, key isnt sheared...seems like the only reason the nut was still hanging around was the recoil cover keeping it from dropping

so upon closer inspection my key looks about like the picture above(pic above is just a sample)but it doesnt look like its going into the shaft at all and its only about half tweeked as the pic...ive got a puller on the flywheel and its not moving..im useing a brand new(bought yesterday) impact thats rated at 330ft lbs...should i just leave it on there(the puller) and go back to it every 10 mins or so? hoping the constant pressure is working on it?? OPT need help! lol

so it looks like it got into the flywheel a tad...the key has a visable stress mark..gonna replace it, is there any reason or a different way i should install the key...should i put it behind the dent in the flywheel?

Well for starters I for one wouldn't trust this gouged out flywheel. You can either have a machine shop build up and cut down the key slot or look for another good used flywheel. A little lock tite can help but flywheel has to be in good shape and flywheel torqued down to at least 62 foot pounds.Air impacts are handy, but can do do more damage than good if someone continues to crank down on one when installing the flywheel nut. May be what had has happened in the past to cause this.

so u think the flywheel is too far gone?
...it doesnt look as bad in person but ur the expert..is it gonna be enough to mess with the timing, or do u think the uneven surface will just mes the key up all over again?
