Cheap as they are I'd go ahead and replace the starter and bendix even if the bendix is the problem.You'd have to pull the flywheel to get to the bendix or just pull it out from behind along with the starter and be done with both of them. 56 bucks for the combo at DB Electrical - Polaris or on ebay.
