"My book is telling me that there should be voltage when I measure brown/white to ground. But we spliced brown/white to ground."
On one or two year models Brown/White was the power wire. Yours may be one of the models? ALL the other models Brown/White is ground. I think I've had this same thing happen with one other member.. I'm using an 08 manual and that could be the difference.. ? If so,we've been going at it wrong from the get go.. Go by your manual NOT mine...

Well i don't know but I am throwing in the towel. I snipped the red/white wire that goes to the switch and tied into the solid red wire that goes to the speedo( hines sight pretty stupid and will change). I have 4 wheel drive now when I flip the switch to awd. Still does not light the symbol up on the Speedo. And when I go into the Speedo controls it still shows "off" next to the speedo symbol like the picture I uploaded. Also when I flip the switch the Speedo dims, probably from the extra draw going to the front dif? Weird how the front diff will work with the solid red wire and not the red/white. Both show same voltage. What is the black wire for in the harness that plugs into the awe? Thanks

The black goes to the etc switch. Yes red/white power to the grey out. That means grey is the power lead to the coil. If the other wire is brown/white it still should be the coil GROUND..... I'm kinda lost on what your manual is saying about power on the brown white in the test you show??

Hi opt... Well got some good and bad news... the gray wire is ground and the brown white wire is the one that carries the power. I ended up taking it to a garage and he undid the splices I made to the ground and followed his boom and there was an issue in the connector that goes to the awd swtch. But just thought I would let you know brown white is battery power.
