2000 Polaris Magnum 325 Rear axle bearings

2000 Polaris Magnum 325 Rear axle bearings
I have taken the rear axle assembly off the bike and am trying to replace just the bearings and seal on the left side of the bike. I am having a hard time getting the axle out of the diff. Does the axle have to go out the right or left side of the diff and does the diff need to be opened up to remove it?
