'02 700 running poorly

Since your resistance readings are off for the capacitor coil, I would take a look at it. It should deliver maybe 1/2 to 1V AC when cranking
the engine. But that is not a Polaris spec, and it is not failing at low RPM.
Your tests to eliminate the possibility of a fuel starvation problem are what I would do as well: spray fuel into intake when the engine
bogs. Exhaust backfire is a strong indication of spark misfire.

Nope. Still chasing the problem. I did discover it is overcharging so I am waiting on voltage regulator now
. Also found lots of corrosion on the wires and terminals on the left handlebar switch that kills motor and reverse over ride. Waiting to run it . Will post as soon as regulator arrives

E: I am still trying to figure out very similar problems with my Suzuki LT-A500F Quadmaster. To add to the similarities,
I found that my reg was charging at 16V, so I replaced it. I still get bogging and backfire at mid-throttle. I have an
engine oscilloscope hooked up and it does not seem to loose spark, but I am not sure. My inductive tachometer is
confused. I still suspect misfire, and may try a different coil. I did find out-of-spec cap resistor and replaced the cap.
I have also de-potted the CDI and found no obvious cold joints, etc. I will likely change out the main ignition capacitor
next. This unit has a signal processor IC in it!
Uncanny how I seem to have nearly same symptoms on this machine. I hate to buy a very pricey used CDI, esp if
that is not the cause.
