1999 Sportsman 335 poor idle, runs rough
I bought this 99 Sportsman 335 for cheap because it wasn't running right so I don't have much background on what led up to this problem. Here are the issues. The bike fires up and runs as long as I keep the rpm's up a bit. It idles very slow then loads up and dies within 15-20 seconds. It runs runs rough and misses at low speed but rips around just fine when you get on the throttle. I replaced the CDI with a DC conversion from RM Stator, replaced the ignition coil, Dissembled the carb, cleaned it thoroughly and put a kit in it. New air filter, fuel filter, plug. I bypassed the fuel pump to see if that was the issue but nothing has really made any difference. The choke (enrichment valve) does not seem to have much effect on how the engine starts or runs, hot or cold. Compression is 80 psi which is right withing spec. I'm kind of running out of ideas here. Does any of this sound familiar to anyone? I sure could use some input. Thanks!
