Default 2000 sportsman 500 creeping in gear at idle

I just purchased the atv 2 weeks ago.

I replaced clutch with new one and it still creeps at idle in gear. idle is around 1000 rpm. could it be the clutch shaft in the engine moving in and out? should i try shimming the secondary clutch?

2nd question. it has about 415 miles and 66 hours on it. is there a way that someone could alter the hours and miles on it maybe with a new speedometer?

I'm no help other than suggesting you search for clutch and creep issues for Sportsman.

I am battling the same thing myself. On my machine the clutches were way out of line. I had to loosen the transmission and twist it what I could to get it in line.

I started out with a bad motor mount and had to fix that before I could go any further.

There are several things that can cause creep. Poor clutch alignment, bad motor mount and wore clutches being a few. I am wondering how much sitting your machine has done and if oxidation inside the clutch from not being run enough could also be an issue. Hopefully somebody that can give you good advice will chime in soon
