Went and did it - joined the rzr crew
#1
We've debated back n forth for awhile, and of course on vacation we decided to pull the trigger. Traded in my 800 twin touring for a 11 rzr S (I know, I know, should went with the XP, but just a bit outta my price range). And sorry no pics today, bought it, had it delivered to the mother-n-laws and went trail riding for 3hrs. Then dropped off the wife at home, hit the trails for some high speed testing. Love it, and can't wait to start adding some items. Ordered the aluminum front pre-runner bumper, then will be getting a winch this fall. Any suggestions for upgrades would be great. Thinkin way down the road adding some go fast goodies to the engine.

I have the 1/2 windshield and will probably ditch it for a split fold down one. That way I can run it as a 1/2 when it's hot and go full on the cold/crappy/dusty rides. Really love my J-strong stereo roof with light bar. Nerf bars are a great add-on for protection too. Looking at plunking down the $ for a set of doors next. Seen some on ebay that are like the canvas Jeep doors-full when it's crappy and top half comes off for the nice days. Do a search on ebay for ideas-tons of great accessories on there! Congrats on the new ride!!!

yeah been shopping around awhile now, but don't plan on buying much till my jeep sells - lol (another stipulation by the wife).
Here is my tenative list:
4 point harnesses
2" hitch in rear
Quick detach 1/2 windshield
aftermarket belly skid / A arm guards
3500-4500lb winch (still researching brands)

good call on the belts and shield
I've been in roadies rzr a few times and those things really throw you around- a good set of belts is a must! The windshield is nice to keep the branches & june bugs out of your mouth.
I've been on the fence about getting a rzr a few times- cause I do like'em and they are a blast to ride- the only thing that scares the hell out of me is the lack of control you have, especially over jumps. You really can't use your body to manipulate how it lands or launches, you're basically at the mercy of the rzr & the properties of the terrain.
the rzr in this video landed the small jump just fine, it was the small whoop after the jump that sent it out of control. I don't see this sort of thing happening on an atv where the rider can just let go and bail- this guy is luckt to be alive
He probably hit that jump a hundred times that day and just caught it wrong that one time...fyi- the crash occurs at 1:00
in any case, congrats on the new rzr- wear those belts and have fun!

BG, that's hardly a fair representation on the handling of a RZR. That video is an extreme example, there are plenty others that depict RZR's landing beautifully. Sure you can't finesse it like a quad but there are plenty of riders who can't anyway. I've seen, and I'm sure you have also, Roadie( sorry to keep using you as a example Tom but you're the only one I've got) go off jumps and he makes it look easy. I'm sure alot has to do with the suspension setup and the experience in the driver. No doubt if you got into a RZR that you set up, you would also make it look easy.

I've watched roadie tackle some pretty amazing inclines & hills and not roll- hell, I was even holding my breath some times watching him-
but I have to have that control over the machine for me to feel comfortable enough to push it to new levels-
I think roadie is missing the "no fear" part of his brain - some of the **** he does

1/2 windshield is a waste of time and money. Don't bother.
Doors are nice. Depends on what you like. There's lots of options out there. I'm getting the 3/4 solid "doors" with a step from Benchmark Performance in CA. Pro-Armor is a big company too.
I'd get a winch is you ride alone a lot. I don't because I ride with a number of people with winches all the time. Likely get one this snow season though.
Harnesses are a must IMO. I got a sweet set of 5pts from Simpson.
Enjoy the rig. They are without a doubt the most fun I've had off-road.
