Has anyone used skitraxx on the polaris? I have a sp500 and was thinking of buying them for winter. I think that is the name of the product in which u remove the tires and put ski's on the front and a snowmobile track on the rear tires. Are they reliable or even worth doing?

There called sno-trax, was going to put them on my SP 500, but an intermittent front hub would want to spin one of the ski's. There coming out with a set of tracks for both the front and the rear as well. I think there meant for year round use. Their site is sno-traxx.com I think.

as long as you leave the machien in 2wd mode you shouldn't ever spin the front wheels, and i'm guessing the way they attach, they don't actually hook onto the driveshaft (duh)... i think it'd be pretty cool

Dirt Wheels did an article on them a couple of years ago. They had a Scrambler 500 and a Banshee that they tested them on. The Scrambler would beat the Banshee out of the hole, but the Banshee would reel it back in. They said to be sure not to engage AWD, so I guess they are hooked up to the front driveline. I don't remember what issue it was in, but you may be able to ask them and get a back issue.

Jaime,

Interesting price. Around here that would buy you a pretty decent used sled. The concept is neat but I would think conversion and the loss of the use of the standard quad would be a drawback for me.

A Polaris SP500 and a Polaris Indy Widetrack GT in the stable here. They are both used in the winter. Both have advantages and disadvantages in the winter. The Widetrack GT has a serious disadvantage in the summer!!!!

Whatever happened to all those conversion kits you used to be able to get to put wheels on the front of your sled? Another interesting and somewhat expensive idea that wasn't that popular.
