I recently purchased a new trail boss for my wife. I looked at both machines an finally made my decision based on wanting a 4 cycle over a 2 cycle. The trail blazer is lighter than the trail boss and is definetly faster due to the 2 cycle motor. I am not sure which one has more power. In a pulling contest, I would probably bet on the trail boss, 325 with the 4 cycle motor. The 2 cycle is definetly quicker, though, but by how much, I do not know. I have had the trail boss for about a month now and have not really had a chance to push it and see how fast it will go. Based on small amount of riding that I have done on it though, I like the ride and it has pretty good acceleration. I will no more on this machine after some summer riding trips in the hills.

I have a trailblazer and I ride with a Trailboss a lot, and the trailblazer will go faster. It goes up hills a lot better than the Trailboss and I just like the trailblazer, but that is me, you could be different.

From everything I have seen, a Boss will run just about the same top end speed as my Blazer. But the Blazer does get there faster.

I ride my 2000 Trail Blazer a least every other week and I ride with two 2000 Trail Boss’s every time. Therefore, I could make a short story long. <grin> The Trail boss has more power and the Trail Blazer has more speed. We road all day at Deepwater Mo yesterday and the Trail Boss’s stayed right with me and I stayed with them and we pulled each other out of the mud MANY times. It seems like when the Trail Boss got stuck in the mud, it was a little harder to pull it out. I like both bikes, but I prefer my Trail Blazer.

I recently purchased a 2000 trailblazer for my wife, the next day I had a chance to put it against a 2000 boss that had been purchased at the same time as the blazer. In short sprints we could not discern a difference. They ran neck and neck in the "short" drags we tried. Due to distance restrictions we were unable to test a flat out top end run. The two stroke has some advantage in throttle responsivness.

I have the new Boss and i really enjoy it. I ride with a blazer all the time and we drag a lot down roads its usually neck in neck but i usually pull away just by a bit in the very end if its a long road. I think the boss has a little more power but the blazer does climb a little better in my opinion.

Wait until you try to "hop-up" the Trailboss. It's near impossible to do. NO ONE makes aftermarket parts for them. The Trailblazer on the other hand you can get pipes, carbs, clutch kits, steering dampeners and a lot more. If you want a little more power out of your Trailboss you are SOL. You do have that option on the Trailblazer.
