AIR BOX MOD.
#2
The airbox mod consists of opening the intake on the box by using a piece of 3" PCV tube or similar. Then adding an extra grommet in the inside to accomidate the added airfolw, and a better quality foam filter.
As for the filter straight off the carb lots of people do it. I do with my 39PWK, and it can be done with the 38TMX. It's unlikey it would be possible or even worth it to do it with the OEM carb. Most are using a K&N filtercharger with an outerware.
As for your other question in the other thread, Alton is 5 min. outside St. Louis. I can get to Chicago in like 4hrs, depending on how many Troopers are out that weekend! The riding are I was refering to is about another 1hr south os STL.

I used a 1 1/2" hole saw to cut the third hole for my RCR Airbox Mod Kit ( Part of the Stage 1 Kit that I have for sale ) and cut all the way through the divider wall in all three of the holes, then connected the holes with a dremel tool and cut off disks. So most of the divider wall has been removed. I cleaned up and radiused everything to keep turbulence to a minimum.
