Come one buddy..how can you possibly make a comment like that? You made changes to your carb..its running better now right? Stock cam is the best? LOL..maybe for a stock bike! Anyone who knows anything about cams cam tell you aftermarket will work better. Sure some cams will move the powerband around, but they'll perform better then stock! You could grind a custom cam that would add alot more torque down low and still alow the HP up high and pull to 10G. Its just a matter of time before some company does this! ANd how would this not make the bike better?

man..you need to think about things before you type them. If your gonna be building a motor to turn to 10G..you need to change springs and $hit. how many cam swaps have you done? Do you do yoru own motor work? I've done a few cam swaps in my time...im into drag racing cars..i've done a ton of motor work on my car...i know what works and what doesnt. Its all about matching the engine combo togther...cams/springs/head..etc. Just dont say stuff to stick up for SBS...sometiems its better to say nothing at all then to put your foot in your mouth!

"my motor is an all out race motor" C'mon, it is wayyyyy tooooo early in engine development to say you have an all out race motor. You might have a modded motor, but by making that statement, it shows even further that your standards are quite low.

If Rath "agrees" with you, then why did he try to purchase an HPD pipe?

Don't spend money on carbs, springs, and cams? What the heck?!!

Dual overhead cam motors inherently like to rev, let them breath, and the power can be incredible.

If you change the carb, add cams, and change the springs, you wouldn't be revving a "stock" bike now would you. Like Scott said, think, then type.

Rath has more race/tuning time into the Predator than all of you combined. If I owned a Predator, my goal would be for it to run as well as his..... Obviously, the chance of better stuff coming out is a definite possibility. At the time it does, you can always upgrade. It's only money......

Scott, a leading quad cam company spent quite a bit of time trying to design a cam that would improve overall performance for the Predator. (they agreed the stock design was best) Like i said earlier, a race motor that has parts that can handle 10000 rpm, could benefit from a cam but it will lose bottom end.
As far as car racing goes, I see you race mustangs, I did to for years, Still hold national records in stock and super stock classes. Yes, I built my own engine's. Jon Bennett "Bennett Racing" is a close friend and the top mustang Engine builder in the country. We started out together racing before any of the sanctioned events were ever created, then he started up a company and has built and still builds engine's for the top car's out there now. So before you start talking racing, find out more about who your talking to. 95% of the Predator's will not benefit from changing cams, springs. Just the all out race motors.

Modquad, you have no idea about my motor, or how much development might be in it. Just another mis-informed comment with nothing to back it up. Rath, probly wants a pipe to test, he has tested several already, that's how you tell if something works or not. And you replace the top end and leave the stock crank in there, yes your are revving a stock motor. Why don't you prove just one of your great suggestions, you give all this advice but show some results. I know there coming soon, that tends to be a regular excuse for you.

Im just saying that the stock cam is not the BEST cam out there. I bet you could call up a cam company, tell them what you wanted, get a custom grind cam that would smoke the stock one. Polaris prob just kept it rather mild in the cam department.

See the thing is SP...your a big fan of superbikeshop..and thats fine with me..you just seem to have a problem with any other company. If someone suggests somthing from trinity or anything else, WHAMO..your on it like crazy.."this product sucks..buy what gary sells!" I dont know man..you seem to have some issues with things...

Not trying to start a flame or n e thing but I just had to chime in here. Okay from what I have understood from my research I have heard the stock cam has worked the best so far and that none of the ones tested made any significant improvements. Everything you do to the quad performance wise is another piece of the puzzle that you dont need to worry about later. On the note of springs I think that to use shims is not a bad thing at all and as SP700 has mentioned I too am a believer that shimming them is the only way to meet exact tolerences. On the note of the airforce kit vs. clamp on I have never used the airforce kit but from what I've heard its good and bad. I guess that would depend on who you speak with. I personally am happy with the clamp on as I have had no troubles with it and feel that it was a huge improvement over the airbox w/ itty bitty vents. Now speaking of HPD and HotSeat only time will tell on how good their stuff is so I dont think we should cheer on for anyone yet. I feel happy with the rev limiter set at where it is as I dont hit it while racing up the hills cuz I shift up before. Yes sooner or later I plan on buying all the mods available(i.e. cams, springs, cdi, p&p, big bore) but for now I plan on just buying what is readily available and needed. I dont feel that I need another set of cams, springs, a port & polish, big bore, cdi or any of that....yet. Im happy just riding the SOB. Im quite happy with the gearing, carb, and pipe. It has served me well so far. So I dont think we should say that a certain this or that isnt needed. It can all be beneficial in the end. If you can find a cheaper way of doing things, hey thats great but lets not talk crap about certain products or things that we feel are necessary or unnecessary. A great thing about all of us having our own quads is that we have the freedom to "personalize" it with whatever we wanna put on it. MONEY is a HUGE factor as to what we have and dont have. We put on our quads what we feel is necessary to perform a certain task you plan to achieve. The primary purpose for my quad is duning. Yes it is nice to be able to have something that can rip up the hill and all but what is the point on dumping your money on crap if it wont be beneficial to me while duning? Nitrous, big bore, port & polish, cams, springs, cdi,.....all of that is not necessary for me to dune with. There is hardly a chance I will need to have any of that to dune with. Its always nice to have the fastest quad, BUT you will NEVER be the fastest. Especially since my primary playground is Glamis/Gordons Well there are way way way toooooo many nice things that get brought out there on big weekends it would be absurd as well as stupid of me to try to compete with these guys as I am only 19 and will not be making money by winning a race up the hill against some kid on a alky banshee with 15k in his engine! We should buy what we feel is necessary for what we do and not buy something that will make us fly on a straight stretch of land such as down the street or leaving camp. If anyone would like to personally attack me for anything then please keep it on a PERSONAL level and EMAIL me or PM me with what you have a problem with instead of posting on a board for ALL to see. You can send me email at the_wanger_man@hotmail.com Thanks now shush.
WEll said..Im just glad to have enough money to do a few mods and be happy riding also. I think we all are into this sport for the same reasons, and for the passion just to RIDE.BTW...isnt it getting pretty darn hot up ther eat Glamis by now? I heard about the mother/daughter that was out there and the Mother died..Very sad.I love hearing about everyones set ups and new mods they help us to learn and should keep us open minded to all the different things that is out there.Hope you all had a great 4th of July wk end.......Tina

Well said!

I agree with you totally..The thing is everyone comes on here to seek info..and everyone has their opinons on whats gonna work and whats not..its just when people start talking crap about EVERYTHING except what hes running...thats my point!
