Default SP 700 "bound up" after using reverse

Sometimes after using reverse, like backing a trailer up a hill, the quad seems "bound up" like the front brakes are dragging. It is also hard to steer. If I put the quad in reverse again and stab the throttle it seems to free it up. Anyone else experience this problem or know the fix?

The 4wd will sometimes stick like in the condition that you were talking about, it is a Polaris thing and is very normal for the brand. Like you said, to fix it, put it in reverse back up a few feet... turn the handlebar side to side and it will un-wedge itself.

It is not a problem, just something that happens if you put it into drive while the AWD is engaged from reverse. It is a peculiarity of the Hilliard clutch in the front diff. the one way clutch in the front diff is getting wedged into the 4 wheel drive position. The machine is giving you full 4 wheel drive, and 4 wheel engine braking. It won't hurt the machine if done very little. To keep from doing it just make sure to let off the gas completely and let off the reverse overide button and come to a complete stop while shifting from reverse to low or high. Scared me the first time it happened, I thought i had 4 flats and my parking brake locked.

Yeh Hotdog, they still use the Hillard design, they just moved the mechanics of it from the hubs to the front differential. That gives less front width and less problems with the hubs.
