does anyone here know much about the starter on a 99 scrambler 400? i am trying to put mine back together after replacing the spring in the bendix. and i have two identical c-clips that i don't know where they go. they are the wire type c-clips about 1/2" dia. and am not sure where they came from. also is there supposed to be some sort of spring for the weights in the bendix? i am really confused here. if someone has a break-down drawing of the starter and related compnents, i would really appreciate it.

I only see the need for one c-clip like you discribe to hold the unit on the shaft and it goes on last, I dont know why you have 2 identical ones. There is a garter spring that goes around the wieghts.
