Installed the hot seat "hi flow" k&n 5" oval filter and added the White Brothers pipe and dynojet kit. I installed new needle on clip 2 from top ,like instructions say to. and 170 main for my elevation 3500 ft. It starts and idles fine. take off is ok but when hogging on it it's dead (no pull) in the mid range and full throttle. any suggestions, cant tell if lean or rich, will try going up or down in main jets, 3 turns out in fuel mixture screw. also adjusted float to 8mm (stock is 13-14mm). also cut slide spring in half and drilled larger holes in slide. should i try different notch in spring. thanks for any helful hints.

You need to read your plug. Take the front plastic off ( 3 very easy screws, and two headlight elec plugs). Start with the 1/4 throttle range. Stabilize for at least 1/4 mile. Use the handlebar killswitch. Coast to a stop. Shut off the gas valve. Have a golf tee ready, and disconnect the fuel line. Slip the tee into the line to stop the additional spilling of fuel. Remove the bolt at the rear of the tank, and slide it out....be careful of the fuel valve on the bottom. Remove the wire from the plug, and pull the plug to read. Repeat this for 1/2,3/4 and wide open to get yourself into the cocoa brown plug range.

WEll, i,m getting their. With the HOT SEAT hi flow kit and dynojet kit, i have the needle on the 4th from the top, and a 210 main jet and its running alot better, may even need a little larger jet yet. this set up really breaths alot of air. it runs extremely hard now. may even try stock needle again to compare. any input ? thanks

Polracer, you should only cut about 1 inch off the spring. Cutting it in half will allow the slide to open to quick. If your able to run a 210 main jet, your needle is not coming all the way up. At that altitude the 170 should be really close. I would replace the spring and work from there. Make sure the holes you drilled in the slide are no larger than 1/8.

tHE SPRING I CUT IS THE SMALL ONE ON TOP OF THE NEEDLE, ITS ONLY ABOUT 3/4" LONG STOCK. PLUS I DRILLED OUT THE SLIDE WITH THE BIT FROM GARY'S AIR FORCE KIT. HAVE YOU SEEN HOT SEATS "HI-FLOW KIT". i JUST THICK IT BREATHES BETTER THAN ANYTHING ELSE IVE SEEN, THUS THE REASONS FOR THE LARGE MAIN JETS. AND NEEDLE DOWN TO 4TH SLOT ON NEEDLE. USING E-SERIES PIPE WITH 8 DISCS AND NO QUIET CORE.

That's not the spring to cut, the big spring that sets on the diaphram is the one to cut. That little spring just holds the needle in the slide. That is the right drill bit. That filter is going to flow good, but unless you are running oxygenated race fuel a 170 should be all the jet your going to need at that elevation. If your having to use a jet that large, something is not right.

yES, I CUT THE WRONG SPRING, SO REPLACED AND CUT 4 COILS OFF SLIDE SPRING. DIDNT REALLY NOTICE AND DIFFERENCE . I AM STILL RUNNING A 210 MAIN AND 50 PILOT WITH DYNOJET NEEDLE ON 4TH CLIP FROM TOP, RUNS HARD, MAY TRY A 200, 195 MAIN JET. I PULL AWAY FROM MY BROTHER WITH HIS AIR-FORCE KIT RUNNING A 170 MAIN JET, ALL ELSE THE EXACT SAME. ANY INFO, THANKS
