Default scrambler tip over question

OK, my girlfriend was doing doughnuts on a '01 scrambler and lost it. She tipped it on its side. It was running like that with gas......AND OIL running out of it. When i traced the oil, it was coming out of the air box. That seems strange to me. Can anyone explain?

i have had this happen to me and my friends have it happen also. I believe my dealer mechanic said it comes from the crankcase. Feel free anyone to correct if i'm wrong.

Default scrambler tip over question

Thanks for the reply. Now the question becomes ( cause stuff like this drives me batty till i know) HOW does it get from the crankcase to there. Heres what I am imagining: This quad is on its right side, almost upside down, idleing. Oil runs backward through the carb up the intake tube, through the air filter, out the box and down the fender WHILE THE THING IS RUNNING!?! If that is the case, how does it get from the crank case to the carb? As if you cant tell, I have NO idea how these engines operate. I have never been in one. I cant see any other way for it to get to the air box......an explanation will sure help me sleep better lol.

Yea, I don't understand this concept very much either and i work on cars a lot and stuff. But it is nothing to lose sleep over, and i'm sure if you relax someone w/more knowledge will answer you with the full conclusion to this and you'll be all better. So don't let it get to you. lol

I personaly wouldn't worry about it. I have had oil get in my air box after doing wheelies and standing it on end to make the skid plates. However, I have no clue how it gets there.

I had this happen too, its from the vent hose thats attached to the bottom or side of the filter box.Its a common thing if you tip it over. After you clean up the box you should be able to see the hose.
