Aaen stage one kit
#1
Has anyone used a Aaen stage one kit. It consists of a Aaen top end pipe, 38mm THX flatside Mikuni carb, Boysen Rad valve. They don't give you an air box mod. but suggest you modify your air box. The carb comes with 280 jet with 270 and 260 as extras. Olav the owner said that "the 280 might be a little fat" I trusted him and even after moving my needle all the way up(clip in bottom setting) I still burned up at mid throttle. I am currently using a 360 jet. He missed the jet by that much on his own kit that he told me he has sold hundreds of. Has any one else heard any thing about Aaen? Oh well I was told to get the stock piston out and put a Weisco in I just ended up doing it sooner than I thought.

jad,
The jets you mentioned might be alright if you were keeping the stock (VM34SS) carb on it, but when you go up to the 38 flatslide you have to jet it a LOT richer. I was running a 370 in mine when it wasn't ported. Now I'm running a 410 after porting. I think he got his numbers mixed up. The jets should have been 360, 370 and 380.

Rob,
Only if you're riding W.F.O. I find my self doing less and less of that lately due to the amount of horsepower being made. You don't have to hold the throttle on as long to get going as fast. In wide open spaces it could be a problem, however in the woods you are kind of limited to your speed.
Also if I'm riding with Celeste, I use slightly more than her Trailblazer uses. I take it a lot easier if she is with me because I don't want to lose her.
The interesting thing is, that with porting, the Sport seems to have a tremendous midrange hit. There is still enough power down low for crawling over obstacles, but you can really feel the hit when it comes on the pipe.

Mike, I am now running a 360 jet very close to what you had before your porting. However I don't know what altitude you are at. I do intend to get it ported and I am glad to know what jet you are at now so I know where to start when I get it ported. Has anyone ever used one of those exhaust temp. gauges?
