I have never bashed Polaris before and never will.My 400 is for sale and it does break every now and then but when it was stock it didnt break like that but when you up horsepower you break things.I still belive the Polaris 400L is the hottest motor ever put in a quad but when you mod one out you pay the price in reliability. My old 425 is a hoss too but doesnt break that often but yet it is close to stock.Whats everyone else think?

I agree with you FTWFLH, when you go modding the motors, your service and maintenance really has to increase and also the re-builds will come at shorter intervals. But.. I love it, it is all worth it to me to have that power at my thumb tip.

Ride 'em hard, but make sure to give 'em the TLC when you get home. Rub da Budda belly!

Actually...The only problem i've had with my sportsman is that the speedometer and odemeter stopped working a few rides back...then started to work again...then stopped again . Polaris has treated me well...but I know many that have had major problems with Polaris Utilities. My next ute will be a polaris also.

Hey Tyre Spinner,

It sounds like the sensor has gone bad. We've had to replace a couple of them recently. They're not hard to change, but they are 50 bucks. If you decide to fix it, a tip for you. Disconnect the sensor at the wheel. Since it's no good any ways, we cut the tip off and taped the new sensor to it. This allowed us to pull the plug up through the headlight pod. It was a lot easier than trying to fish it through. By the way, our machines ar 02's, so this isn't uncommon.

I am Polaris fan and have owned many sleds and a 400L quad. I went in to buy a 700 Polaris 2 wheel drive but alas, they did not exist.

I mean my 400L was getting tired. I only rode it hard for 9 years and did nothing but change some fluids. I got back 50% of what I paid for it. Not too shabby.

I get a new Polaris sled every year. In my opinion, it has nothing to do with patriation and everything to do with who is first to market with the latest technology. Just because I live in Canada, it doesn't mean that I will automatically buy Bomb.

As far a Fuji goes, they are on their way out of Polaris as the new (since 97) Liberty twins are the best motor since Honda. The Liberty motor is the reason Polaris has shot back up to number one in sled sales. Fuji is so big that they probably could care less about OEM'ing engines to Polaris anymore.

The day I see a 700 or 800 Liberty Twin on a Predator chassis is the day I buy another Polaris Quad.

Gotta go, my dealer just called and my new 2004 RMK 800 just arrived

There are some awesome trails around Lac Ste. Anne. As well as the gravel pits northwest of Stony Plain. Good hill climbs. I usually go to Brule for the sans pits and then south to cadomin and mountain park for the mountain riding. May be a little smoky now as 1/2 the Jasper park is on fire
