Default IS THIS POLARIS FORUM ???

I am a regular here. Anyway, my personal experience w/polaris bashing was mainly confined to the internet. My experiance with people bashing in person was minimal, in fact the opposite occured. Most where suprised to learn that a "heavy slow auto" could put the smack down on a 400 ex in a drag and win some lose some to a 660,and where quick to say say they'd never guessed a polaris could haul ****. Jeepman, if you're talking resale on quads, where I live any used quad is hard to find, but the Polaris hold their value BETTER than the Japs. There are more Polaris quads on the trails than any other by far, and I'd almost guess there are as more Polaris than Yammy and Kaw combined. Like BowHunter said, GO AWAY!

it seems that when a product gets a reputation for something it takes a long time to lose it , it is like harleys i have rode them for 23 years my old shovelheads of the early 80"s did leak a bit of oil , but it has been a long time since i have seen a puddle of oil under a newer harley from say 1984 and up ,but i still have people think my HD is going to puke oil all over there asphalt driveway when i park on it.

Japenese Cars may have had better quality in the 70's or early 80's but American and other manufacutrer's have closed that gap. if you look at JD Edwards list of most relaiable cars less than half are Japanese.
I think ATV's have gone thru a similar evolution, the market is so competive the quality of design, engineering, and manufacture is VERY close between all the manuffacturer's. With the ecomony rapidly becoming global you have to look at percentages of manufacturing origin- with polaris engines manufacured by a Japenese company makes tham what ? 20% Japenese? Honda's manufactured in Kentucky or somewhere with American fasteners are what, 25%.
One major diffrence is where the corporate headquarters are located..... I'll look favorably on a company headquartered in Minnisota....

We all know what they say about opinion's, but my father told me to respect other's opions and think before I open my mouth...

ok, I'm off my soapbox now......

Actually the first manual Polaris was the Xpedition. So the manual tranny thing is not brand new. The reason that all bikes and cars are improving is because of advances in technology and the advances in assembling techniques and quality control systems that are now implimented in the manufacturing process. I have worked in forklift manufacturing for going on 9 years now and I have seen many improvents and much better quality throughout those 9 years. Changes and strides are being made everyday to improve the quality and workmanship of those products. Some of the assembly techniques that we use here at my facility (we build American made forklifts) came from the Japanese minds. I think the America's are catching on and learning these techniques and that there will continually be improvements made. But... to say that one manufacture is much better or has a better product than another is simply not true. As far as parts go, almost all manufacturers use the same companies to make their parts, besides engines and various things of that nature. You have to be in the middle of the process like I am to see alot of these things, but once you are you will understand that all manufacturers make mistakes and all people have their bad days, so to say that one company is better than another cannot happen, you may have your favorite and what you like the best, but no one manufacturer is perfect and they never will be.

Some very interesting views and comments. I think TLD said it best with the insecurity comment. The reason trash talkers are multiplying, is because the caliber of the machines has been continually stepped up.....they're nervous, and yes, insecure. Too bad they can't just ride their fave, and leave it at that.

I have had no problems over the last year with my 2002 Sportsman 500 HO. I'm very happy with this quad and I wouldn't want another kind utility. I live in Canada and ride both a Bomb DS 650 and Polaris HO. I think I'm pretty continent-patriotic.

Actually...The only problem i've had with my sportsman is that the speedometer and odemeter stopped working a few rides back...then started to work again...then stopped again . Polaris has treated me well...but I know many that have had major problems with Polaris Utilities. My next ute will be a polaris also.
