I'm new to 4 wheeling and just bought 1 1994 Sportsman 400 and 1 Explorer 400 both have approx. 2500 miles. The problem is 4x4 on the Explorer does not seem to work in reverse. Going forward up hill is Ok, but backward on same hill the rear wheels spin and not the front.
(Was did not check this before buying)

 

dude... your 4x4 will not work while in reverse unless you push your rev limiter...thats the yellow button on the left.

 

yea, I had the same problem with my brothers xplorer but after alittle fooling with it I figured it out, and yes like dakotajerry said you have to push the override button to let it work.
