Scrambler 500 4x4 or grizzly
My friend has a '03 660 Grizzly (with Dynojet kit). I own a 2002 Scrambler (stock). We have raced a number of times. 100 yard drag race, my Scrambler wins easily because it's faster out of the blocks. The Grizz seems to respond great for the first 7 yards, but it then dies a little before it starts accelerating again. My Scrammy is more consistent through the powerband. After 100 yards, I usually have a 3 to 5 bike length lead. Top speed is close. I would say there is no more than a 2 mile per our difference in top speed between the two machines.

Im Going to say Scrambler All the Way!!!
Just got mine not to long ago & all I have to say about it is~> I Luv It!!!
The Scrambler would win!
It Takes off like a bat outta hell... lol
The Utes that I raced, I won.
I had my scrambler up to @ least 65mph, while passing the utes.

If what you described as your needs,,,,sounded like you needed a grizz or praire,,,I would tell you
From what you describe as being your needs,,,,,,,,,the scram fits you like a vibrating condom
the scram is less of a workhorse and more of a sportbike than the grizz or praire,,,period.
test drive all 3,,,,,,hopefully on the trail (where it matters),,,,

Scrambler all the way. It is the best of both worlds. I have a buddy with a 650 Praire and we are neck and neck after I smoke him off the line. His midrange gets him even with me then it is neck and neck all the way. As far as mud and hill climbs, are you kidding? The Scrambler eats mud and hills and spits them back out. It is crazy fun. It can be a work horse as well. You can get all the racks, plows, winches, etc. Ihave ridden in down poors, through creeks and have not had a belt moisture problem. Make sure the cover seal is good and go.
