aaen or hpd

I have the reed conversion on my 99TB and its pretty fast. I think that
2manytoys has the stage 5 kit on his TB. I don't know which is better or
faster. The cost for the full reed conversion is over $1400 dollars and
you have to use race fuel. The last time that I checked my 100 yard
drag times was a few months back and the air temp was pretty high
but I was hitting in the low 6 second area!

I can tell you that the reed converted 250 is quicker off the line but top speed is almost the same.I never thaught I could get so much power out of the 250 Polaris. I can easily beat the HPD race mod and a stock 400 scrammy but the reed conversion is quicker off the line and pulls a little harder. If I had the $1400 to spend I would have without a doubt went with the reed conversion but the setup that I have now really turns heads. I will have a reed conversion by summer. I am going to adapt a Banshee reed cage to the 250. If I do this I will be pushing around 45-46hp. I have verry little off idle lag with my setup but the reed conversion will eliminate that.

hey guys thanks for the input i really appreciate it i think i will go with the reed conversion it sounds like it will really help me keep up with the other guys when i start woods racing i really appreciate it. i just wish i could run 93 octane instead of race gas thats all. that stuff gets really expensive. is there a way i can get around using it all the time without hurting the reliability of the engine? also how does the reed conversion from hpd or the highest stage kit from aaen hurt my reliability and do i have to use race gas with the hpd kit?

HPD recommends that you use race gas on with the reed conversion.
So if you decide to go that route you should ask Darrell at HPD just
to make sure.
Reliability? Well this is the first full summer that mines been up and
running but so far so good! It really depends on how well you maintain
your quad anyway. If you are the type that just rides the thing all summer
and puts it away at the end of the year, its not going to last too long.
That goes for the stock ones too! So, I would say that mine is just as
reliable as anything out there!
