At the end of this month I am going to visit a friend in Utah, going to take my Sportsman500 with me, I ask him where we were going to ride and he said at FishLake Park, he said we will get about 7000 to 9000 ft. up. My Sportsman is stock, no mods, what size of jet do I need to drop down to. I do not know what size I have now but plan on pulling carb off next week. Thanks in advance for any advice. Also has any body been to that area of Utah, what am I to expeect.

Thanks for the reply chopperbill, it is a 98 model and I think by the papers that came with the 4-wheeler is 142.5, here in Southern Illinios the bike seems to run better with the choke on half. I need to pull the plug to see if it is really running lean or not. I was thinking of putting a K&N filter on it to before I go.

Is that Fishlake park or Fishlake NATL FORREST,the forrest is part of the PIUTE trail system. If thats where you are headed you'll have fun, plan on eating alot of dust.If was me I'd have good goggles and maybe even dust mask.Take a good coat as it will cool down at nite and be hot in day time. You'll be up high so there will be less stuff to filter the sun and you'll burn easier so bring sun screen. Most important of all take camera and bring back alot of pictures.CM

I've been on the Rocky Mountain ATV Jamboree rides in the Fishlake region, and had to tow a two-stroke Polaris because he hadn't rejetted. The two-strokes are much more sensitive to altitude, and are more likely to need a leaner mainjet. My Expedition had no problems.
Dust isn't a problem, unless you are following a bunch of quads, hehehe. There are some nice topographic maps available for the Paiute Trail and Fishlake National Forest. I've bought some at the Forest Service Office in Richfield. A GPS receiver is a necessity in my case 'cuz I'm trail-recall challenged. I'll be back visiting Utah in September and really can't wait.
