For 2004 the shift forks have been upgraded for realiablity and easier shifting yes it's fixed. However, the gears are still solid and don't have oil relief holes drilled for even smoother and faster shifting.

All quads are limited to a good grace law nod of the head between them not to exceed 75mph stock.

The YZF is geared for motorcross the Predator is geared for fire roads.

 

But with the smoother tranny it should be a bit quicker.

 

THE YFZ IS FASTER, pretty much fastest on the line dunno bout the ds-650 thoe.

 

i dunno.. it would be close... they say the 450 isnt as fast as the raptor... and the pred is faster than a raptor...

 

YOU AIN'T CATCHING THE 450, JUST GETS TO THE POINT A LOT QUICKER

 

Have first hand knowledge on this subject so here goes. Raced a Yam. 450 that had the small core out, refiltered w/ K+N, and rejeted , with my WTEC,Eraser and we were dead even. Two weeks later raced a Pred. w/ K+N filter directly on carb,rejeted and slip on muffler( sorry dont remember what kind) and again we were dead even. All races were in sand! So I would say that the two are very close to each other in acceleration but dont know which one would have the highest top speed.

 

Saw a stock yzf450 out run a piped predator in 300 and 600 foot races at my place. They swapped riders and the yammi still won every race. it was 1 1/2 lengths in 300 and 4 lengths in the 660 foot runs. Also saw 450 that was running with 686's the other day. no predators around. To me the 450 yammaha is head and shoulders above the predator. The predator should be compared to the suzuki 450.

 

Instead of just judging after a single days events, myself, and buds have watched the 450 since it came out....on almost every weekend. The 450 shines in short distance runs. It's revs very quick to about 200-250 feet, great for MX. After that, it does however run out of legs, that's where the Raptor and Predator take it. They all have strengths, and weaknesses. Pick your fave.

 

This 450 vs Predator thing is getting old. In a drag race on asphault the driver who gets the best 60ft time wins, everytime. The bikes are to close to call either one superior in a drag race in stock trim. There are several Predator's and 450's that run at our local drag strip. There is one Predator that is faster than the other's by over a tenth of a second in the 1/8 mile. He can outrun all the 450's most of the time. I am sure there are some 450's that are a little faster than the average, and they will outrun most Predator's. My good friend is a factory sponsored racer that can get on either of the bikes and he wins every race. He is better off the line. Now let me spend the extra money that the 450 cost, and the Predator will eat it alive.[img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif[/img]
