Default Any updates on winch wiring?

How has your wiring held up with a solenoid/ without a solenoid?
I have been through 4 solenoids none lasting more than a year.
I have read on previous posts people not having any problems at all with the application of a soleniod I find this unbelievable. How can I go through 4 and some people none? Are you guys using your winch?
On the flip side, I have read posts about direct wiring to battery and then having their machine burn up, but also heard succesful results with direct hook up.
Can I please get some feedback as to your application and how long you have been running your winch this way? Both good and bad results appreciated. I will hook up my winch with the majority of best results. At this point I have nothing to lose.

I have a Warn A2000 winch. The winch was bought with the bike in 95. I don't know how often the previous owner used it, but it still worked when I got it. I didn't like the rather large rotary ****, so I purchased a wire and contactor kit for a Warn 2.5ci. this upgrades your battery and contactor to winch wires from 8Ga to 6Ga. Anyway, no problems thus far and have used it a couple times in the moutains in Colorado.. do date, almost a year later, no problems.

Long story short, I have an extra solenoid for a Warn A2000, I don't know what winch you have, but you are welcome to it, make me an offer. Pm's are just fine.

Ride on.

Thanks for the offer on the solenoid, but I think I'll wait till I get more input on wheather or not to go with a solenoid. Anyone else frying up their solenoids?
