hub fluid replacement???
#3
this may sound kind of dumb, put i am just now learning how to work on my 4-wheeler. so, the to get to the hub, do i need to take the wheel off and then the hub and drain is there? then put the drain hole at the 4 position like a clock? any detailed help would be nice. thanks again

You dont have to take the wheel off. It may make it easier to put a drain pan under there though if you doo. But, there is a plug with a hex head that is on the side of the hub. It should be lie a silver color. That is the drain/fill plug. Remove that and let the fliud drain out. There won't be much in there. Then, rotate the wheel/hub so that the drain plug is at a 4:00 position. I like to use a small seringe to squirt the new fluid into the hub. It makes things a lot easier. (You can get the seringes from Tractor Supply). Fill the hub until the fluid starts to leak out. Then put the plug back in. Its as simple as that

what bigbad said
you can also fill the wholes when they are upright, and then turn the the 4:00 position to drain the excess (a little messier)
clean and replace the plug

I change hub fluid 3 or 4 times a year, spring and fall and a couple times in the summer, it is real easy if you follow the above steps. I fill it at 12 o'clock and dreain at 4 o'clock it doesn't take to much.
