I find it funny that some of the Polaris owners are saying Honda has nothing new on the Rubicon. Oh, i might add there was one whom wrote basically that Honda just put the new tranny in a Foreman, and that the Rancher was really a Foreman with a new name. Well if that is how the Polaris fans feel about Honda, then that alone stands for what Honda represents to me. If a company can design ATV since the first 3004x4 in 88 and still have The BEST OR CLOSE TO THE BEST ATV'S still almost 12 years later! Well Polaris, how many of your machines are still up and running from 8 years ago. Let's be real here. Polaris are good machines, even liked them when they had the chain drive 4x4's. But, Polaris has a habit of changing things drastically due to needing to. On the other hand if Quote, from all the polaris fans, that the RUBY is just another FOREMAN. Well then I'll take it, because it is one BAD BOY FOREMAN that will still be competative or ONE of the best still 10 years from now unlike any Polaris. That is from personal experience from owning both. The Rubicon will be for real, that is why i have money down on one. PS: For the Polaris being the quote Superior 4x4, i don't see to many in ALASKA doing any better than the old out dated foremans! GEE i wonder?

At our monthly club meeting last night, I had an opportunity to talk with a member who works as a mechanic at a Honda dealership, who had just attended a service seminar on the Rubicon and its transmission.
From talking with this professional and reading published reports on the Rubicon, while the machine carries the name, "Foreman," it's definitely "not your father's Foreman."
The transmission appears dramatically innovative and truly unique; the engine, with its multiple valves and foreshortened pushrods, reflects an interesting ATV adaptation. Also, little parts commonality exists between the Rubicon and its Foreman predecessors.
How "good" or "bad" the Rubicon may be depends upon its operational environment and user preference. However, sifting for facts available on the new and unseen (by me) machine, I would not dismiss it entirely at this time as "just a . . ." or "same-o, same-o" anything. That said, the Rubicon takes nothing away from the good characteristics of Polarises or any other existing quads.

Great post CHICKENman the rubicon isnt worth worring about. Honda makes quality for the most part and Im happy that they have finally entered the big bore auto market.
Now maybe Polaris will and the others will continue to improve and grow to keep up as this new quad will be great for Honda. It doesnt matter what the other guy rides just that he rides.

The original post was talking about a Dirtwheels bias towards Honda products not putting the Rubicon down. When Dirtwheels drag a Rancher against a Wolverine they went to the trouble of emphasizing it reeled in the Wolverine for a second for a half bike length at some point of the race but thought it was not important to mention that the Yamaha crossed the finish line an dozen bike lenght ahead of the Honda.

Tim1, I thought we had covered this before??? If you would read the entire paragraph, you would have gathered that the wolverine was much faster and did win the race. The point was, the rancher got smoked out of the hole and gained a little ground in the mid-range and then lost a more ground on the top end.
I would say your just reading the part you want to hear. Take the sh*t out of your ears and listen to what people are telling you.

Here is the entire report of there drag race from Dirtwheels.
"in repeated drag race starts the Yamaha was able to pull away from the smaller displacement Honda Rancher through the first three gears. On the top end 'however, the Honda Rancher would pace the Wolverine and start to reel it back in."
From there race report Dirtwheels wrote it sounds like Yamaha got the jump on the start than was gained on the the rest of the race, what else can be made from it.The only reason we really know the Wolvine must of killed the Rancher in the race is because it's common knowlege not because DW would admit it.
