This is some of the info I found from another site. This is from Sportsman RSE.
Ok boys and girls, the question thats been lingering in here for a long time has finally been answered. Polaris has finally come out with a Sportsman 700 EFI. Now according to what Ive read about it so far. The benifits of the EFI are as follows.
–Improved Cold and Hot Start(It is suppose to easily start from -25F to 120F.)
–Improved Throttle Response(Suppose to be much quicker than carbs.)
–Improved Fuel Economy(It has a 15% impoved fuel economy.)
–Automatic Altitude and Temperature Compensation(It is suppose to have more power than a properly jetted carbed bike at high altitudes.)
–Easier, straight forward Diagnostics(It has a diagnostics mode built right into the headlight pod.)
–Simple to Operate System
The EFI is a Bosch System which uses a multi-port semi sequential injection system which pretty much means that it injects fuel into the intake port through the cylinder head. It also has a fail-safe mode so that if anything messes up or goes wrong it will automatically run a little bit richer than it is suppose to(Ive always heard its better to be too rich than to lean, so I guess this is why it does this is case of a problem.) The system is suppose to be completely waterproof, so water should not be an issue with it. Normally operating the 700s at low speeds, makes them kinda jumpy but they say that this EFI will pretty much eliminate that. They also say that there should be no need for any throttle when starting and of course with EFI, there is no choke.
Now besides just the EFI, Polaris has also done some changes to the engine itself. Apparently, they have done some stuff do stuff to the engine that has increased the peak power of the 700 by 12%. What they did to do this is put in a new cam and new head design(they had to do this anyways to compensate for the injectors). It is suppose to have a little bit deeper and throatier sound now too.
The cooling system and the charging system have also been improved. The charging system has been upped from a 300watt to a 500watt and a new more powerful cooling fan has been installed.
As far as the tranny and four wheel drive go, they are pretty much still the same as they have been. I think the weight and everything is still about the same and it has the Badlands radial tires on it. I think this one is giong to cost about 300 bucks more than a regular 700 too. Well this is all I know and if I find anything else out, i will let you know.
My dealer said they will start to be available in Dec in a limited amount. Different colors coming later. MSRP $7899
