Honda has more power?
I have a 2001 Xpedition 425 and I would like to know if there is any way to add some power to it. I was "dogged" pretty bad in the Mtns. a couple of weeks ago by a 400 Honda and I have been frustrated ever since. I know my polaris is geared a little higher than the honda but it just wouldn't pull up the Mtns. My problem was that I couldn't pull up a Mtn. in 3rd gear because it would loose power and bogg down but when I geared down to 2nd it was too low and the RPM's were screaming. Maybe I need a 2.5 gear? (just kidding) My Polaris did great at low speeds but trying to keep a steady speed up hill was impossible.
All the while the Honda was in 3rd without any problem at any speed? Is there anything I could do to up my power a little bit that would help this or is it just a draw back of a heavier machine? By the way, I am NOT bashing my Polaris, I love it. I just wanted to see if there was anything I could do to add some power.
Thanks for the help!

Honda In known for having great low end power I used to have a foreman 450,it dident have lots of top end but had great low end power plus hondas are great for not losing power in the mountains.
I had a yamaha big bear and wolverine and when we went riding in the mountains they would cut out,I dident want to have to rejet them every time I rode in a different place so rode my foreman and made my kids ride the yamahas.
2003 polaris 700
1999 powerstroke duely
2001 arctic cat 400

I would say your right about the Honda in the Mtns. I have always ridden Honda's and decided to buy a Polaris for the heavy duty frame for work around the Farm. On Flat land my Polaris works VERY well, it's just in the Mtns. or "hilly" areas when I start having the power problems. Of course no 4-wheeler is perfect and each one has pro's and cons. I certainly think the pro's out weigh the cons on my Polaris but I wish there was some way to improve on the cons (especially the low and mid-range power)
Thanks for the help.
