I have a 2001 Sportsman 500 H.O. and the idiot light cluster (in the headlight pod) has some unused lights. I’m guessing that these were options on other limited edition models or for export sales? …anyway, I was able to remove the gray foam inserts that keep light from shining through (If you have looked close at these, you know what I am talking about). I was wondering if anyone has tried to buy the proper sensors and retrofit them.

 

How many slots for the lights are there?

My xplorer has 4 lights
Neutral
Hi-temp
Low oil
Reverse

I assume your Sportsman won't have the low oil?

 

My SP500 (1998) has 4.

I have three extra lights that are not wired for use. They are (1) Water In Oil (2) Low Oil Pressure (3) Park. These are the ones that I am talking about. The three that do work are (A) Water Temperature (B) Neutral (C) Reverse.
