My buddy has a 95 XL400 2X4, his starter went out. They want $350 for a new one. Anyone know of one of those used ATV salvage yards that sell used ATV parts? His is not rebuildable.

 

The dealers say that they are not rebuildable, but I've done many starter rebuilds. In fact, I just finished rebuilding one yesterday on a 94 400. Have you taken the starter apart? It may just need brushes.

 

Believe me, this starter is shot.
