Ice Studs
#1
I plan on putting ice studs on the Predator so I can zip out to the ice house in a flash, and run circles around my brothers 600 sportsman. What are the best ones, and are the cheap just as good, or would galvenized steel screw do just as well? If I buy them short enough not to puncture the tire will they be more likely to fly out of the tire at speed? Just trying to get some ideas. Thanks

I use your basic Menards sheet metal screws in my Predator in the winter. I only lost 3 screws last year. You can see in my pictures how I put them in (the pattern) and I would pull wheelies on glar ice. I can't remember the size that I used though. I think they were 10's in the rear and 8's in the front, but don't quote me on that. I didn't have a single tire leak, and didn't put in slime or fix-a-flat.

ya i would go with his pattern... ive seen the pics and that gave me a good idea of how i am going to do mine..
i am going to my dealer to get the screws tho.. 1000 for 35$ (thats at my buddys cost.. hehe) and they are 5/8 long and a #8 head.
i cant wait for the ice.. i just wish it wernt so cold!!

Ice is a blast. We had a couple of quads and a couple of sleds. The only problem is that it gets a little cold when you get wet! There was about 6-8 inches of water over the ice in one spot and I hit it almost full throttle! Slowed me down really fast! But pulling out of it with the studs made a big difference, pulled the front wheels out of the water till I hit the snow on the other side.

Oh ya, it was cold. Thank God I have a good wife to run a pair of shoes and socks out to a bridge that we were chattin under! Getting to be that time of year again. I just got back for a one day trip to northern Wisconsin - put on about 120-130 miles in a little under 4 hours. Could have put on a lot more if it wasn't so cold. Susposed to be in the upper 30's to lower 40's, but didn't even hit 28!
