Do I need to install longer wheel studs with aluminum wheels?
#1
I have installed Douglas .190's on my '99 Trail Boss. The wheels are the correct offset and stock size, yet the thicker aluminum centers allows the wheel studs to stick out only slightly. The nuts only go down about 2 or 3 turns, (they are not even flush with the nutwhen torqued down!). My '96 Scrambler came with stock aluminum wheels and the nuts fit the studs fine. Do I need longer studs? Are the Scrambler's studs longer? has anyone else had this happen? THANKS!

Funny you mention this , my son tried to install a set of .190's on our 325 trailboss. We too do not have enough stud to fasten them . I have had these rims on a 94 and 96 400 sport , a 95 scrambler 400, a 97 and 99 scrambler 500 and a 99 trail blazer. I don't recall a problem before but I do have one now . Maybe this week I will have a chance to do some checking on stud lengths , I will post here when I know something .
