Hi,
I bought today a used 97 Polaris Explorer 500 in Germany. The condition of the machine is verry poor. The owner before turned it a few times over and used it in the winter on verry salty streets. I like to rebuilt this Quad now. I went to Yamaha Quad dealership. No Palaris or Bombardier dealerin my area. This Yamaha Dealership has only a parts list from the Sportman 500 . The engine and the drive parts look verry simular to my Quad in the book. Now my question: Is the different only in design of covers or is there a big different in the frame, engine or drive lines. Can somebody tell me the different between Explorer and Sportsman 500. I found already a download file for the Sportsman 500 parts manual. I would be verry happy when somebody show me a page where I can get the file for the parts list of my ATV. I also just thing that I like to import the costly parts from the staates. The excange rate Euro to the Dollar is on my side.

Good to know, that the Explorer almost the same parts like the Sportsmen has.
Because in germany the dealerships donīt know so much about the Explorer models. The Sportsmen is here more known.

[img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif[/img]Polaris only made Xplorer 500 in 1997.....In 1998 they started making red Sportsman 500's which replaced the Xplorer 500..Trust me all parts interchange...You can go to WWW.PARTSLAND.COM and bring up the microfich(parts list) for your Xplorer which has all parts listed and the prices..I USE THIS VERY OFTEN...BEST OF LUCK TO YOU ON THE OTHER SIDE OF THE BIG POND...
