Default Tube on the scrammy 500

wassup everybody,
yesterday i was ridin the scrammy and i hit a muddy stream about 1 or 2 feet deep and i almost made it out until the front end came up on me and i let off the gas, then it kinda sinked in a lil bit more and i got STUCK,so after about 20 minutes of pushin and pullin and forward and reversin i finally got it loose and rode up the hill and down the main road in my neighborhood,so i finally got home and when i was washin it off i noticed a little clear tube hangin from the bottom in front of the axle i think and i kept on washing.so when i finished washin i noticed that the tube had fell off,i was wonderin what it went to and will it affect performance if i ride without it and the last thing i want to know is where are all the grease zerk fittings besides to one by the chain and the 2 on the front

thanks

hello

the tube sounds like the vent tube for the front diff it goes on the diff and runs up into the frame . if it was that make sure you change the diff lube . there is a grease fitting on the upper steering post ,front u-joints , lower ball joints , lower control arms, front drive shaft u-joints , front drive shaft slip yoke at the tranny , rear axle carrier and the rear swing arm bushings ( mounting points ) . i think that is all of them and if it isnt then i am sure someone will let us know .. also if it isnt the hose on the diff then check the radiator over flow hose .

Could also be the tranny vent hose or the carb vent hose.

the little clear tube was on the left front side of the axle so it must have been the one for the battery, are there any negative affects if i run the machine without it,if so what are they,it cant be serious becuz u can ride the machine without the battery

p.s.thanks for listing all the grease fittings, now i have to get a grease gun

hello

well you really need 2 guns because there is a grease just for the u-joints and rear axle bearings and one for the bushings in the control arms , swing arm , steering post ...

I use marine grease in all my zerks and it seems to be working fine. I know Polaris recomends different greases but I really don't think it matters. Grease pretty much serves the same purpose , to keep dirt and water out. I use the marine stuff becasue its cheap, and is very hard to wash away. I don't bother with the Polaris stuff anymore, I find it very easy to wash away and very over priced. A grease gun runs usually $20

It shouldnt really hurt anything if you dont have the tube on the battery. But if your battery overflows and leaks acid, it will leak all over the battery and tray. DO NOT run it without the battery unless you have a battery eliminator kit. It will cause a voltage spike and blow out your bulbs
