Default Cyclone cylinder

will I get much gain installing a cyclone cylinder if I don't run I at 7000 RPM?
I would like to stay at my pipes power band of 6000 rpm also keep the revs down for reliability reasons
anyone know if the cyclone head is different then the standard 250 head?
are oversized pistons modified to keep stock compression ratios or does one need to take overbore into consideration when milling the head?

the cyclone was very quick in its time. With stock hp at 30 it is much faster than the 250 now. It was detuned when the trail was introduced and the 400. really the only thing different is the ports. They are much bigger. If you were to get your hands on a cyclone jug and then put on a pipe it would be one bad trailblazer. this would bring the hp up to about 40 without any other mods. The HPD race mod is 38hp and it is very quick. I cant imagine what hp you can get out of a cyclone jug.

right for sure it is going to add HP but what will it do to my bottom end?
and do I HAVE to run it at the 7000 rpm that the cyclone used to run at

what i'm saying is if the cyclone cylinder doesnt run at 7000 rpm will it be worse than running a stock cylinder at 6000 rpm???

I think it will mostly depend on your pipe. If you run a stock Tblzr pipe on a cyclone jug it would drop the power band to the tblzr level. At least that's how I think it works. When I swapped my top end on my Explorer, the Cyclone head looked like the dome area was shallower. I'm not sure if it was just due to casting differences 17 years ago, but it was definitly not the same.

how did that swap work out on the explorer??
was it a 4x4 ??
what pipe did you use?
did the bottom end suffer?
were you able to use the stock carb??

Default Cyclone cylinder

I'm running the Cyclone carb and Aaen's trail pipe and clutch kit. It is still a work in progress at times. The parts swap was very easy. They are interchangable. The ports on the Cyclone jug are huge compared to stock. I also had the roller action kit on it which made a big difference. I took it of to put on my Scrambler. I will get another kit when I have the extra cha ching laying around. It runs fine now, but I'm never satisfied. I just bought a new brown spring(stock cyclone) and weights to try on the Explorer clutch. I'm not sure Aaen's trail kit for the Explorer is putting me in the sweet spot.
