WOW! I am very new to this forum. I see a lot of "mine is better than yours" discussions here. As a matter of fact 95%(not a scientifically generated #, so no complaints) of posts start out as or turn into this type of conversation!

I am also new to the area I am in and I don't care what you ride just "Let's go Riding". In the place I just came from I rode with lots of different machines, including a REALLY OLD Honda 110!

BTW, I sometimes ride an ATC110 now; where do you get that REALLY OLD stuff? (You ARE referring to the machine, right?)

I think it is silly and childish. Some people seem to only participate in that kind of discussion though. Oh Well. To each his own.

I tell you that guy who rode the 110 had no qualms about his ride and neither did I! I have a new Sportsman 500 and we had a GREAT time. All that mattered is he had something to haul his azz around on. He actually pulled me out once!

I agree most of the time people are talking out of there A**. It is hard to get used to people calling what you bought with your hard earned cash a piece of crap. It used to tick me off, but now I expect it and 99 percent of the time ignore it. How do you like your new Sportsman? I just bought mine 2 months ago and really like it.

 

Yeah, I just don't get it. When I was a boy I would have given anything to have something with a motor and knobby tires! I to this day I know a lot of people who would still do the same. It's about getting out there and enjoying yourself, the outdoors, the thrill, the comradery and just having FUN! To H-E-L-L with what you ride....just get out there! I am living out of a motel now till we get a new place setup after the move and the quad is in transit/storage, but if someone offered me a loan of a ATC110 for a day of riding I'd be there in full gear with a huge grin 8-) !!!

I really like my SP500. It is a great trail machine and it has comfort second to none. I am an explorer by heart and love to discover new areas, trail, camping spots, and scenery. I also love to mud, so that explains the Mudrunners mounted on it....

I started with a Honda ATC 90 but soon upgraded to the ATC110 with High/Low. I looked forward to riding every weekend.

As far as brand bashing, I just laugh. You have to admit it is entertaining. Especially when some illiterate decides he has lost the debate and starts throwing a fit. I laugh so hard I cry sometimes. I am a little guilty of stirring it up though. Even if it is for my own entertainment. I try to give all the brands credit for their strenghts, though.

Yes, the bashing is annoying. Keep in mind people are posting from a very large geographic area and I think some of them may be salesman for a specific ATV dealership or are employed by an ATV manufacturer.

Frequently threads start out as a technical discussion on some aspect of a machine only to digress to attacks from a supporter of a machine built by a different manufacturer. These salesmen can completely destroy the pursuit of the original topic. I don’t think these attacks should be tolerated.

I am beginning to think atvbbs encourages this behavior. I realize the argument is individuals are debating the best machine to buy and in the proper context may have value, but not at the expense of a discussion regarding a completely different topic.

 

The best thing to do is bump off those who make very and obvious bashing remarks...not criticism but remarks like those of our buddy Jester!

Just have them banned after one obviously offensive remark... I did say obvious!

 

Xplor I agree with you 100%. Punks that only use the forum as a means to start crap should be ejected! It’s one thing to discuss a quad’s pro and cons. But it’s another to only spew wise cracks and half-truths. Even though I don’t own a Polaris I have a lot of respect for what the machines can do (and that ain’t a kiss up either). People like Jester, Bear-tracker and the rest of the stooges need to shut the hell up or get the hell off of the forum.
