Default Buying a Polaris

Hello everyone. I've gotten some really good responses
as of late in regards to buying a new Polaris Sportsman 500 HO,
So I've decided to do just that. I have researched and found
that there is a place in Chattanooga, TN called, "Polaris
Victory Triumph of Chatt." Its 3 hours from where I live but
they have a really good price. Has anyone here on the forum had
any dealings with them and if so have you been totally satisfied
with everything. From your dealing, price, good product setup etc.?
Can you haggle maybe an even better price? or Freebees?

Thanks in advance.

I doubt you will get anything there, as far as quads. It sounds to me that the plant produces the Polaris victory motorcycles. Probably best going to a dealer. Brad

Did you find them in the ATV Trader? I ran across them while looking last year myself. They seem good, I called them also, but I went to Ohio myself to a dealer there, it was a little closer.
It is a shame that we can get better deals by traveling to another state to buy a ATV. I tried real hard to buy mine local, three differnt shops. I had $10,000 cash in hand and they wouldnt sell 3 Trailblazers anywhere around here for that. I than drove to Ohio and bought 3 for $9,000. WHY? Dont they want to sell their product. They said that there is no way they could sell them that cheap, they paid more than that for them. I actully got 3 helmets and some other stuff also threw in on the deal in Ohio......

I would love to support my local dealer but when they want you to grab your......I just wont do it, I would rather travel 3 or 400 miles before I will pay what they want.

I came across them by a post here on the forum. Like you I tried the
buying local route and no one could or would come close to Chatt. price.
One dealer got his invoice sheet and showed me what he pays for one.
If he was being honest he couldn't come close. "IF" that is. Anyway he went
on to tell me that if I were to buy from Chatt. and if I had mechanical problems
down the road, his dealership could refuse to work on my atv. I said even if
its under warranty and he said yes. That kinda pis$#@ me off you know.

I bought from them and will probably buy another one for the better half later this summer (or give her the current one and I get the 700 EFI ). Get there early! They are VERY busy! By the time I left, around 1:00, they had already sold 10-12 ATVs (Stayed Friday night and went there around 9:00-10:00 Saturday morning). I tried to haggle, but they told me quick that the price was set. Also you don't get any special deal on the winch. You do get 10% off accessories over the shelf or installed for the orginal price. I believe the owner/sales person's name is Pug.(?) I actually talked with one of the mechanics most of the time (real nice guy, his name might have been John???).

If the dealer refused to work on the bike and Polaris found out, they would lose their license. (I was told that from the place in Chattanoga.) Also it's in the owners manual that they have to work on it.

If you go and like BBQ, stop on the way back to the interstate at the House of Loin. It's good and you get a lot for you money. (We ordered large shredded pork sandwiches.)

Thanks for the info. It might have been you that I learned
about the place in Chatt. I agree any dealer should have
to repair anything "under warranty" especially. I just didn't
want to argue with the guy. I think I spoke with a guy named
John on the phone. When he gave me a price I said is that
your best price and he said, thats it. I didn't know if I could
haggle them down once I got there or not. It sounds like I can't.

Thanks for all the info. The BBQ sounds good.

As far as getting a dealer other than the one you purchase from to do warranty.

Yes manufacturers make dealers work on the bike.

A smart dealer welcomes warranty work as a profit center. Larger dealerships will have a service manager hungry for work. The service manager has to hit goals to keep the owner happy (happy Boss = keep job) The hungry service manager will welcome you!

Some smaller dealerships were the owner is the manager may be pissed off that they did not make the up-front profit of the sale. If this is the case at your local dealership, the service customers who purchased there will bump the "Out-of-towners" out of line. When (IF) they get caught up on thier purchaser's bikes, then they will service the "Out-of-towners"

So they are not refusing to work on all of the bikes, just giving the fast service to the bikes bought at thier store.

It depends on the attitude of the SERVICE manager. If you talk to the salesmen and sales manager, they will tell you that you will never get the "Out-of-town" bike worked on. Do not waste your breath with them, go to the SERVICE manager and ask. That is the answer that will matter.

I hope you take my advice, I KNOW what I am talking about!!!

Gooseman, I am from Asheville also. Which dealer told you this? I haven't had to deal much with the local Polaris dealer (Asheville Motorsports), but I am going to have to have some work done soon and would like a heads up if you've had any other problems with them. Also, any praise for any local or regional dealers? Any help is appreciated.

LimonFresco,

It was ash. motorsports. That was my first dealings
with them. This is going to be my first atv so
unfortunately I can't recommend any particular dealers
to you, sorry. They claimed they had the best maintenance
department here and in the area states though. They may be???

In my opinion they were just mad because they couldn't
or wouldn't match the price I was offered.
