Default 700 Sportsman needs help

i have an 03' 700 Sportsman. When it comes to hill climbing, and riding in loose dirt or snow, I am constatly left behind by a 03' Grizzly. I have put on Mud Lites, but still can't really get off the road in snow where the Grizzly can go everywhere. I think it is the weight difference, but not sure. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks......

Not really sure what to say.. maybe it's your choice of tire (unless the Grizz has the same tread also). Are you putting enough weight forward to get the front wheels to bite into the snow and help pull? One thing I have noticed about the 600 and 700 Sportsman is the clutch is a bit grabby. Maybe a clutch mod for smoother engagement would help. This would not really apply if you are climbing these hills at a good clip though.

It will basically just spin and try to grab. Front weight maybe the awnser, but really don't think so. I know the Grizzly is 150 lbs. lighter than the 700 Sportsman.

Well, you might be right. There are times when less weight is definitely advantageous, but plenty of times when more weight will get you further also. Pulling people out of mud .. plowing.... and certain terrain. Unfortunately, I have not ridden with a Grizzly in a long time and the last one was a '99. Nice machine, but air cooled / straight axle in back, and open front diff was no match for a full time 4wd Polaris. The new ones that have a front diff lock, liquid cooled, and IRS are probably a lot better.

I dont see a problem. Its just all that power that you have and the grizz dont! Just kidding. My brother inlaw has a sp600 and he has no problem getting around. Usually the weight would help in the snow. He has the rawhides on it and it digs like crazy.

My sp 700 rocks in the snow and I ride with grizzlys and hondas and it seams like the 700s power was made for going threw snow and mud and not so much speed.Don't be scared hit the throttle and turn your wheels back and forth. My only complaint is going down the hills not going up them polaris ebs is lacking for ebs.Maybe your front end isent working right.
