My uncle had my 97 sp500 in a nice big mud-hole. it got up to the lights lol...... before he went in it, i forgot to tell him that the 4x4 switch was broke and didnt work. (little causin messed it up). so id say it was about 3.5 to 4 feet. nasty stuff lol. it sucks to only have 2x4 in that situation. didnt do any damage to the quad at all tho, just gave it a nice huge layer of muck all over it.

in the past, i've had my old Sportsman500 up to the bottom of the headlights.....not by choice though.....i had to pull my friend's Honda out! he went in a little too far!

i don't think ANY ATV should be in water that deep though.....for obvious reasons!LOL!

keep it to a few inches above the floorboards and you should be ok.

if you have to go any deeper, you should buy a boat! LOL!

my dad drove are 400 sportsman 2002 right into a deep ditch, it was up to my chest standing. the machine was floting and we got out the winch and pulled it out. no watterin the air filtter. good desine on polaris's part. but got watter in the belt. they say stik in in low and ride along it or push it and then it eventualy dry's out. but i like the cover over the PVT vent, for just a while, idea. but if you do that then there isn't really much else that watter can hurt that i can think. And i think i will put a drain at the bottom of the clutch cover to.
and the also say in the owers manual not to drive at steaper angles than 25 degrees !! RIGHT
