Bill-

What shop is doing your work? I'll be in your area in the next few weeks and if you get these results, I'll be dropping mine off. I haven't found anybody down here that has done one of these kits.

Thanks
Jeff

If this clutch kit is supposed to give 30%...how much was the EPI supposed to give? I am happy with my EPI...I imagine this one would blow my socks off!!!!

Let us know.

NCATVer,
the dealership is calld Jans Sporting Goods,it is located in Goodrich Michigan,Steve is the quad mechanic there.Im advising you to get my results first before you invest 300 dollars.I'll let you know this coming Tuesday.

XPLOR,
I was not real happy with the EPI kit that was installed on the Sportsman.I sure expected more for the 230 dollars parts/labor.It raised the engagement speed and seemed to take me thru the power band better, maybe [im guessing] a 5% differance thru the entire band.===Bill

Thanks Bill!! I will actually be staying in Goodrich so this will work well. If it is the Steve I'm thinking about I went to highschool with him. I look forward to reading about your results and who knows I might be doing the same next month.

There is an awful lot of “misinformation” being spread in these forums. I would like to set the record straight.
1. The ineffective Erlandson EBS clutch kit was discussed way back in the fall of ’98. They never worked.
2. Heel Clickers are not mastered for atv’s, particularly the SP500.
3. Heel clickers gain 20-25% more hp to the track of a 150 hp sled, not an atv according to the mfgr.
4. EBS does in fact make quite a difference in performance of a Polaris atv. Those without it perform much better. We’ve proven that time and again. I suggest that someone at the dealership really is confused here.
5. I have tried this setup on the 400SS, not the SP500HO.
6. Your mechanic “Steve” is full of S _ _ _. I’ll bet he’s never, ever done a set of ST clickers on an atv. In fact I’ll bet he does not even know why they have that name “heel clickers”. He obviously knows even less about EBS.
7. ST Heel Clicker kits come with extremely heavy springs made for 150+ hp sleds. There is no way they will work on an atv. The flyweights can work with various modifications to the clutch itself. Also there are several pitfalls that took us quite a while to get right.
8. If it’s all hogwash, then I highly suggest you have Steve install them. Then when you are bemoaning the fact your PVT cover got torn apart and the clutch doesn’t work right, you can remember what is being stated here.
9. I have, in fact installed one of the ST Clicker kits on our 400SS. It took us quite a while to work out the problems, but I’ll just say that, in the end, after the grief, it was worth it on the 400SS. I would never do it to the SP500HO. But, I suggest you go to your mechanic Steve, since he obviously has all the answers and can probably work them out with his guarantee and replace all the parts he tears up along the way while you are sitting, not being able to ride.
10.
PS – When your clutch blows up, please write Polaris and complain about their products. It's the least you could do. I know you have lots of practice.

Oh, yes, please spell my name correctly . . . its SCHULTZ.

Jack Schultz just e-mailed me.He told me that there is NO WAY that these Heel Clickers will work on a quad.He says that my clutch will blow up.He wrote me quite a long letter on this subject.

I made a copy of his letter, and it is going to go directly to my Mechanic Steve, 1st thing tommorrow morning. He tells me that Steve is full of Shi- and he does'nt know what he's talking about, nor does Steve know anything about EBS.He accused Steve of NEVER ever even installing a set of Heel Clickers.

Jack, these are very strong remarks concerning this matter.Thats why Steve will read your entire letter BEFORE he ever starts on the Heel Clickers kit tommorrow.

Im going on a Poker run this coming Thursday thru Sunday,I certainly dont need ANY problems with my quad.I'll let you guys know of Steves response to Mr Schultz letter, should be real intresting.

Now Jack, how are you going to feel if Steve proves you WRONG?If you are correct about your statements, thank you for the information and not allowing me to get burned.Look for my posting tommorrow morning around 10 oclock on Steves response to your letter.======Bill
