Default 2004.5 Sportsman 400 Problems

Mountaineer, Im considering a DYNOJET kit.. I just hate to buy something for something that is so new that SHOULDNT have a problem. Im gonna play a bit more then maybe I'll try the kit. Its still Much better than where it was.
I just want it to be perfect.

Ktmguy,

I ended up staying with the 165.5 main. My plug was still white. I am scared to go leaner until i get the lower end richer. I adjusted the pilot screw in about 1 full turn, it was 3 1/2 turns. the manual says 2 3/4. I havn't got a chance to ride after adjusting the pilot screw so won't really know until then. i feel the top end is still rich and that the lean plug is from the lower end since the majority of my day's riding is not full throttle.

yes then by all means make sure you have it rich enough, we dont want any damage now do we!

Mine seems spot on in the low end, But its starts the acting up in the midrange, so thats why Im gonna look at the needle, maybe this weekend and see. So will go from there.

Have a look at this, it may shed some light on the white plug ...

yw... it's good to see some of the manufacturers supplying information like this. We all have different interpretations of the same issues, at least they should have a good grip on what's going on in this kind of situation.

I can't remember but are you one of the guys that said you have a K&N? The 162.5 might be too lean for you because of some thing like this.

Bringing this back to the top, trailrider, was wondering if you had made any Progress.. I seem to have mine chased down and running great now, no bogging at all, and good plug color.. I played a bit more, the needle was definitley rich from the factory and ha dmore of a bearing on it then the main I believer.. But its all well now it seems.

Oh.. and Mountaineer.. I used to Work for Anker Energy for 9 years (owned Juliana), I helped do alot of the permitting and mine design for Juliana, plus dealt with the state agencies... it always looked like a great place to ride down there and I would Love to try it sometime, ..I come into WV quite frequently, but not into webster county anymore, but I might if theres some goodplaces to ride!!
