Clutch Springs and kits???
#1
I was wondering if changing my clutch springs would give me more top end speed, without taking bottom end power away?or would i have to get a kit for my 04 sportsman? Thanks in advance

You will not gain any more speed with a clutch kit, exhaust, jet kit....unless you change the gearing. You may get there faster, you may be able to maintain you top speed better with these kits but it will not make your top end faster.

Clutching is really an art form, there's a TON of aftermarket parts and kits. Primary weights of diffrent shaped and sizes, springs with an assortment of conpression rates. But, when your sheeves on your primary are closed that's it, thats as high as the grea ratio gets.
Some stock machines are faster than others, and if your concerned your not getting what you should for you model you need to make sure your existing setup is working like it should. Check to make sure your weights move freely, and your sheeves can close/open all the way as well. Also, make sure you don't have a broken spring.
The aftermarket stuff can make a world of diffrence for trailriding. I use a modified heelclicker kit for trail riding. It gives my a TON of low end torque, I don't even bother shifting into low anymore for 99% of the stuff I encounter on the trails.
