i'm not taking them apart because the bushings are worn but because the bolts are loose. i'm getting a little side to side play. i tightened one side up to see if it was the bushings and it wasn't. i've heard of a couple of people changing the bushings and when they got done it wasn't the bushings at all but just needed tightend, so i'm gona try that first. thanks for the info. i use green loctite on airplanes so i have plenty of that but i can't remember what color is the strongest and which is the weakest

Actually you're gonna want to use red loctite on those threads. Like it was stated earlier, you need to make sure the threads are clean/grease-free. Brakecleaner will work as a substitute, but the best product is Loctite's own primer. You can normally get the 1 3/4" socket at any farm/fleet type store for pretty cheap. Be careful with the red... it's designed to be a permanent fix. Green is for small threads, up to 1/4 inch I believe. Blue or 243 is the next step up, removable, but stops vibration from loosening the fasteners, it would be my choice. Red is great stuff, does the same thing as blue, usually listed as 271 or something in that range. Unfortunately it's also hellishly strong, difficult to remove without using heat. I use it for items I plan to have to destroy to remove, or that I can use heat on. Not good around bearings, seals, or plastic.

I think you'll find the above link very helpful in making a decision on what to use, a bit of reading but better than a lot of swearing..
