Help on Lubrication
#1
Hey all,
I hope someone can clear some things up for me. I went to go over and grease my machine today. The owners manual states that there are 3 place to grease. This doesn't sound right with all the moving parts, but what do I know. The first place was the front prop shaft yoke, ok I found a grease fitting but it was on the rear of the shaft, greased that no problem. The second place was the front drive axle (u joint), for the life of me i could not find any grease fitting on any u joint on the machine. Third spot was the ball joint, again could not find any grease fitting on or near the ball joints. When I took my front wheels off, I did find a grease fitting on the back side of the brakes (and no it was not the bleeder valve for the brakes) Does anyone know of any other grease fittings, and does anyone know where the grease fittings are that the owners manual refers to? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Sometimes the manual has outdated info in them...my scrammy manual has several places for grease but there's no grease fittings to be found where the manual says.
I think it's just some outdated material in the manuals....

Well thanks for the input all. I was at a dealer today to pick up a CV boot, and I asked the service tech the same question. He wasnt sure because he didnt prep or work on the quads. But he did say he found it hard to believe that there was only 3, he said it used to take a long time to grease all of the fitting on an older machine. I hope the new greaseless fitting are in deed greased "for life". lol.

Yep he you are correct, the eliminated almost all of the fittings due to customer complaints. People said that other brands didn't require greasing and they didn't want to spend the time doing it. There have been a lot of posts about this in this forum, do some research and you'll find out. They have been lately too.
