I was just reading my club newsletter an I saw a story about a place called the Loneys Sportsmans Lodge. It is way up in Canada near Sudbury ON.
I was interested so I called them they told me they had 2 groups coming this weekend he said one was from ATVConnection, they are coming to do an article! Cool, this place boasts 30000 miles of trails Thats not a typo I said Thirty Thousand!
Anyway has anyone been there on quads? I know that it is a snowmobile paridise in the winter, but I want to know what it is like in the summer.
It is about 6.5 hours from me but I would make the drive if it is worth it.
There web site is

30,000 miles of trails I think I'd be pretty leery about anything else they tell you. They didn't try to sell you a few miles of the CANADIAN border did they?CM

30000 miles of trails would be the snowmobile trails. There is not that many miles of atv trails yet! But I'm sure if you go there you won't run out of trails to ride. I'm sure they would have enough to keep you busy for a week.

Well it seems to be true.
I talked to a guy today that goes up there in the winter on snowmobiles, he said that most weekends there are 3000-5000 sleds out riding.
And most days you can ride all day and not see a single person!
We are already planing our trip!
I will be taking the digital camera and will post lots of pics.

30,000 miles huh! My drive by car from Ottawa Ontario to Los Angeles each year is 3,000 miles. So if I go to this place in Sudbury I can travel the equivalent of 10 trips to LA in and around Sudbury? Are there 6,000 trails leaving the lodge, each 5,000 miles long? 30,000 miles of trails in Canada maybe!

Not to slam Sudbury, but it is a pretty dismal looking place. The surrounding territory is miles and miles of mining slag heaps. It used to be black landscape with very little vegetation for as far as you could see. Kinda reminds you of what you think the moon would look like. The vegetation is slowly growing in the mining tailings and things are looking better. Would definitely look better in the winter.

That said, Ontario, and the rest of Canada has some awesome trails. Don't hesitate to book a vacation and bring your machines.

Sorry Sudbury ...

The Ontario Federation Of Snowmobile Clubs (OFSC) maintains over 49000 kilometers (approx. 30000 miles ) of snowmobile trails in the province of Ontario. Unfortunately most of thes trails are for winter use only. But there is still lots of places to ride a quad.

I am interseted to know about the area around the lodge. It is actually located between North Bay and Sudbury about 25 miles N of the TCH Rte 17.
Have you ever been up there?
What is the terrain like there?
Here is the website
http://www.sportsmanslodge.net
It is on Kukagami Lake, Do you know of it.
Tell me about the other places to ride in Canada.
I live near Buffalo NY and I used to drive truck in ON so I basicly know my way around the Metro areas in Southern ON.
Thanks! Drew
