No, I wouldn't want tight chains. Just a safety link for inertia in any direction should I lose a tie down strap.

 

Ran the Paddles on Sunday at the dunes. The machine really got up and skidaddled! I seemed to pick up a pretty good vibration though when I just get rolling from a stop. It's kind of a rattle I feel in the handlebars and as soon as I throttle up it goes away. Maybe the paddles sending a vibration through the bike??? I'm not sure. I'm going to have to slap the Badlands XTR's back on and see if it is there or not. I didn't notice it before I made the change to paddles and I have never ridden on paddles before.

 

very normal for that feeling with the paddles, they have to come to speed before they smooth out. Please try those on the 400 and let me know if it helps, I have always figured the 400 didn't have enough ***** to move paddles
