Default 250 Trail Blazer standard clutch mods?

Ive got a stock 250 trailblazer for my son and want to add a standard clutch kit to it just to wake it up and give it a little more power on the low end. Shold I go with HPD for that? Im not sure if i should get a pipe while im at it though? If so which one? Ive changed the weights and the primary spring on an auto kawasaki so im assuming i wont run into any problems while doing it on a polaris. Ive also
piped and rejetted a kawie too. I just changed the main jets so will i need to do anything more on the 250?

Also the chain has fallen off a couple of times from jumping the 250 and ive heard something about a chain tensioner for it. Will that fix the problem? If so where can i get one?

Thanks

I would go with either HPD or RCR and get a pipe and clutch kit. The kits will come with new jets.
HPD and Hotseat Performance both sell chain tensioners and this will help when it comes to jumping.

If your not sure when you are going to pipe it try changing the primary spring to a Polaris white or green. They work real good with stock machines. The white has a lower engagment than the green. We have an HPD pipe and clutch kit on my sons Trailblazer and had to go with a Brown HPD spring instead of the red/yellow while the boy gets more used to the power of the 250 and the topend pipe.

On the secondary or driven clutch there is a preload for the spring. This will change the back shift. There is different settings and put it harder. It will improve the proformance. no $ to do.

What springs are in the hpd clutch kits? Whats their rates too? One kit is for a stock engine and exhaust, and the other is for a stock engine and hpd pipe.
Thanks.

I wouldnt mess with the secondary until you have the basic understanding of a CVT tranny. If you do like I said in my earlier reply you will be happy until you put a pipe on.Then clutch it to the pipe. On the chain if it is adjusted right it shouldnt come off but a tensioner is not a bad idea any ways but it sounds to me like the chain is shot.

Is the hpd clutch kit gonna be the best one for the hpd pipe though? Or would you suggest a clutch kit (or even just a spring/weights) for the pipe from somewhere else?

I have a Kfx700 Vforce (auto tranny. belt drive) and i piped it with duals, better snorkel to flow more air, and put a k&n on it. As for the clutch, i put a lighter clutch plate cover so it would rev a little quicker, and installed a primary spring with higher shiftout equavalent to the mods i did. The spring also has higher stall too. I left the stock weights in because i dont need heavier or lighter ones because the spring is almost perfect for my setup.

The cluth plate and weights are from the same company. The spring is from another.

Well nevermind that. I will just stick a white polaris spring in it. What are the ratings on a stock 250 spring? anyone know?

If the wb kits has a secondary spring u have to preload it or u wont be able to climb hills. It happend to my dads trailblazer. it really sucked pulling it up.

Ok i see what you mean. But like i said i think im just gonna go with a primary spring change for now. If i do ever put a kit on it, i'll be sure to do that though.
