199x (3-5) Polaris 350 2 stroke 4x4
#1
Guys,
I could really use some fast feedback. My brother has a friend who is selling a ?? 1996 Polaris 350 2 stroke 4x4. I checked and the 1996 year thing is a bit screwy. I haven't seen the quad yet, but my brother has. I sent him a pic of a 1993 350L 2 stroke 4x4 that was red and grey and he said he thinks that was the correct one.
I'm going to check it out tonight. My brother has ridden it and he said it felt pretty strong and got up to speed very quick. As far as I know there are only a few things that need work. 1. Needs a new throttle cable. 2. Front Brakes need work. 3. Needs new headlight/repaired.
The guy bought it for $500 dollar from a friend that was in a money crunch and he has had it for quite a while. I really don't think it is hot, I wouldn't touch it if it was. My brother's friend is moving in two weeks and trying to get rid of some vehicles etc and he said he would sell it to my brother for 500$. I'm pretty sure it is worth double that amount.
Please let me know your thoughts of the 1993 350L 2 stroke 4x4 and if there is anything I need to be wary of. Any and all advice is appreciated.

I don't know much about this quad. But a 4x4 2stroke polaris that runs for $500 bones? I'd take it!!!
Even if it exploded into pieces the first time out the pieces would be worth that.

I went over to the guys house and the quad wasn't running right. It drove but was very very sluggish. The motor sounded good but it didn't have any power. Well, we looked underneath and the exhaust coming off the engine had popped off. It was to hot to put back on, especially with those d@mn springs. I know very little about 4 strokes and less about 2 strokes, but from what I understand a 2 stroke has to have a certain amount of back pressure to work correctly. After I got it home I was able to get the exhaust on, but I couldn't get the bike to shift. The metal rod that connects the gear shifter had fallen off (in my garage). It also looks to be leaking a little coolant. It's definitely going to be a project quad that I will need to throw 200-300 bucks into and a fair amount of hobby labor.
On a positive note, the quad started on the second pull after setting for two months. It was piled under a bunch of stuff in the guys garage, so I was pretty sure he hadn't started it in a while. My brother rode it two months ago and it was fine then. I'm still a little skeptical about the quad. But I'm sure that with a little time and a few bucks it will being a pretty decent loaner quad for buddies that don't have quads, etc. I'll know more once I get the metal rod back on that connects the gear shifter.
Thanks for the info guys. I guess I need to get a decent manual for it so I can work on it. Any advice for a quad of this year?

Good machine to start working on.But after you get it lined out but you put your butt on it more than you loan it out. These 350-400 L bikes are fun and have more power to get with a few mods that will really surprise you.
